Carnauba Wax

What is Carnauba Wax?

Carnauba is the hardest natural occurring wax available. Carnauba is primarily harvested from palm trees in Brazil. The wax is melted down and added to formulations to enhance their durability and protection against the environment as well as adding gloss to your car’s finish.

There are several grades of carnauba wax. Ivory Carnauba wax is simply #1 yellow Carnauba wax that has been decolourized to remove the natural yellow colour. The decolorizing process in no way, shape or form increases the quality of the Carnauba wax.

If anything, the decolourizing process could diminish the quality of the Carnauba because the chemicals used are rather harsh. Decolorizing Carnauba is an unnecessary step that would appear to be more of a marketing ploy to create a perception of “added value” – when in reality it is much to do about nothing.

Where does it come from?

Carnauba Wax is made from the Carnauba palm (Copernicia prunifera). The Carnauba wax itself is the coating on the surface of the leaf, the wax is extracted from the leaves by either scraping or beating the wax to loosen it. Its then collected and processed which usually involves refining and bleaching depending on the quality of the wax. The resulting wax is moulded into blocks.

What will it do for my Paintwork?

Carnauba Wax is used as a vehicle wax because it is one of the hardest naturally occurring waxes, which when applied to vehicle bodywork will give a lasting, durable and highly glossy shine to your vehicle. Carnauba Wax has a similar visual effect of wet paint so on a well maintained paint surface it will enhance the depth and Gloss whilst also protecting your paintwork against everyday road contamination.

Prices start from just: £20.00. Plus the cost of the valet and are dependent on vehicle size.
